Many municipalities within the geographical boundaries of St. Louis County have chosen to contract with the St. Louis County Police Department for a variety of police services. This may come in the form of a Full-Service Patrol Contract, a School Resource Contract, a Communications Contract, or a Computer Assisted Report Entry (CARE) Contract. A listing of municipalities that contract with the St. Louis County Police Department can be found here.

A full-service patrol contract establishes the St. Louis County Police Department as the sole police agency for the municipality and provides all services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Any crime event that occurs within a full-service patrol contract will be displayed on this map.

A School Resource Contract places a St. Louis County Police Officer within a school while school is in session. Crime events handled by a St. Louis County Police School Resource Officer will be displayed on this map.

The St. Louis County Police Department, Bureau of Communications is the voice at the other end of the phone when citizens call 911 or call for other police related issues. The Bureau of Communications is responsible for processing the call and dispatching it to an appropriate police officer. Municipalities with a Communications Contract with the St. Louis County Police Department have decided that St. Louis County should provide this service. Municipalities with a Communications Contract may choose to not release their crime information on this site. This decision is made individually by each contract municipality.

The St. Louis County Computer Assisted Report Entry System (CARE) is a nationally recognized, award winning system for record management. This is the database of police reports that is queried to provide the information on this site. Municipalities with a CARE Contract may choose to not release their crime information on this site. This decision is made individually by each contract municipality.
